Kicking off July with some pieces to invest in for the summer season. Hopefully we will be able to travel in the next few weeks or even just do more at home as lockdown eases and Restaurants start to reopen.
I get a lot of questions about the best pieces to buy and what is worth investing in, so I wanted to put together my favourite versatile pieces for summer that you can easily mix in with your current summer wardrobe plus some trend styles.
The Linen Blazer
I always love a lightweight blazer for summer because not only do they look so chic over denim shorts and dresses, they are great for having with you to put on if it’s cooler, like in the UK, or if you are somewhere warmer I always bring one to wear inside because I get so cold in the air conditioning.
A great fitting pair of classic denim shorts that you can bring out year after year is the best summer investment. It’s all about getting the perfect fit for you, and I find spending an extra bit of money compared to going with high street denim is always worth it. Levis, Agolde & Oneteaspoon are my favourite brands.
The Linen shirt
One of the most versatile pieces you will buy because not only can you wear alone in so many ways but similar to a blazer you can throw over so many simple everyday looks. Also perfect for wearing on holiday at the beach as a cover up. I know you can easily pick these up in H&M but I also think for a linen shirt quality & shape are so important so investing in a quality one is worth it.
I have found myself wearing mostly trainers this summer. I think if i’m on holiday I of course prefer to wear sandals. However, in the UK being in and out of the city I think a comfortable but stylish pair of trainers work better. Plus the opportunity to dress down pretty summer dresses and skirts is endless and makes some trend pieces often more easily wearable.
The Basket Bag
You can never go wrong with a classic and well made basket bag for summer. Timeless pieces that you bring out each year and can use for day to day, at the beach whilst on holiday or even when travelling – I always take mine on a flight because they hold so much!
These 5 pieces are, to me, worth investing in to start building your simplistic but classic summer wardrobe. Versatile easy to wear classic pieces that you can build around. If you then want to expand, add in different variations and colours of those pieces and some simple tanks and you can begin to curate your perfect everyday style.
I hope you found some value in this post,
