I haven’t stayed at The Principal Hotel since it changed from The George and let me tell you it’s not just the name that has changed. The refurbishment through out the whole hotel from the rooms to the beautiful lobby and restaurant/coffee shop, is just incredible. I was beyond impressed from the minute I walked through the door.

With the most welcoming and helpful staff, willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your stay. Sending me hair straighteners to the room when I forgot mine and even offering us mints and water for our journey home, even if the hotel wasn’t as beautiful as it is, I would stay there because of how welcome and at home I felt. It’s always the little things that count.

Now let’s get to the good part – the rooms. I was lucky enough to stay in one of their incredible suites. With two large TV’s, a beautiful marble bathroom, huge bed, chesterfield couch and a view of George street, how could I not feel at home?
We often go to Edinburgh to shoot because, especially in the winter, the East Coast has much better light than in grey Glasgow, so it’s definitely nice to have somewhere I can come back to and relax on the couch with some magazines and tea whilst attempting to get some work done.
I mean, and seriously how cute are the Principal mugs?

Everything about the hotel made me feel relaxed and at ease. I’m sure so many of you will already know, but i’ve struggled with an eating disorder for a few years and although I am so much better now, I still struggle with the lack of control around the food preparation. The team at the Principal were incredible, so helpful, lots of healthy great options and brought me green tea at 11pm to help soothe my stomach pains.

After you have dealt with something like that, you will know how important it is to feel comfortable in your surroundings and trust the people around you also. I think this would be the main reason above all else that I personally had such a great experience at the hotel.

Breakfast, again with filled with healthy (and some not so healthy) options, that I could pick and choose from myself so that it was what I wanted to eat, making it much easier of course. It’s served in the Printing Press, which is their restaurant, and trust me it is seriously stunning inside. Instagram interior goals! Also attached to the hotel is Burr & Co, their Coffee shop, which I already visited every time I was in Edinburgh anyway. It’s filled with instagramable marble tables, great cakes and of course coffee! The perfect stop before you head out for a day of shopping/exploring in the city.

I can’t wait to be back at my home away from home next time i’m shooting in Edinburgh, thank you for having me!

Thanks for reading, have a wonderful week!
